Our View

If your idea of safari is drifting silently through lily-filled channels rather than racing between sightings, Camp Okavango is hard to beat. It captures the quieter side of the Delta beautifully, where every journey by mokoro or boat feels wonderfully unhurried and completely immersed in nature

Deep within Botswana's permanent Okavango Delta, Camp Okavango offers an immersive water wilderness where tranquil channels, remote islands and remarkable wildlife create one of Africa's most peaceful safari experiences.

Occupying secluded Nxaragha Island, this intimate safari camp is surrounded by permanent waterways and floodplains that remain alive throughout the year. With no road access and a focus on exploring the Delta by boat, mokoro and on foot, Camp Okavango offers a wonderfully different perspective on Botswana's extraordinary wilderness.

Lodging

Accommodation comprises eleven spacious Safari Suites together with a generous two-bedroom Family Suite, all raised on timber platforms and linked by elevated walkways winding through ancient mangosteen trees.

Each suite features expansive private decks overlooking the Delta, elegant interiors inspired by the surrounding landscape, generous en-suite bathrooms with twin showers and every comfort needed to relax after a day exploring the waterways.

Dining

Dining is relaxed and unhurried, with freshly prepared cuisine served in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings overlooking the surrounding floodplains. From early breakfasts before heading onto the water to atmospheric dinners beneath Botswana's star-filled skies, every meal embraces the rhythm of the Delta.

Evenings naturally gather around the fire deck, where guests share stories of the day's wildlife encounters while watching the last light fade across the wetlands.

Safari Experience

Camp Okavango is dedicated to exploring the unique water wilderness of the Okavango Delta. Motorised boat safaris glide through deeper channels and tranquil lagoons where elephants, red lechwe, hippos, crocodiles and an extraordinary variety of birdlife thrive amongst the reeds and papyrus.

Traditional mokoro excursions provide a quieter, more intimate way to experience the Delta, silently drifting through shallow waterways as experienced guides reveal the remarkable plants, birds and smaller wildlife that are often missed from larger boats.

Guided bush walks on the surrounding islands allow guests to experience the Delta from ground level, tracking wildlife on foot and gaining a deeper appreciation of this remarkable ecosystem. Seasonal fishing excursions for bream and scenic helicopter flights add further opportunities to experience the Delta from entirely different perspectives.

Guests staying three nights or more can also enjoy the unforgettable Sleep Out Deck. Elevated above the floodplains, this unique experience allows you to spend a night beneath the African stars before waking to sunrise, birdsong and uninterrupted views across the Delta.

Wildlife & Seasons

The permanent waters surrounding Nxaragha Island support exceptional wildlife throughout the year. Elephants, hippos, crocodiles, red lechwe and abundant birdlife are regular sightings, while the changing flood levels continually reshape the landscape, ensuring every visit reveals something different.

Wellness

Between safari activities, guests can relax beside the swimming pool, unwind on the raised viewing deck overlooking the floodplains or simply enjoy the peace and solitude that defines this secluded corner of the Okavango Delta.

Location
