Selinda Reserve, Okavango Delta
£6975 per room, per night
Some safaris are about the camp. This one is about the freedom it gives you. Having your own guide, vehicle and beautiful private suite makes every moment feel completely your own.
Complete privacy and one of Botswana's finest wildlife regions come together at The Selinda Suite, an exclusive-use safari retreat beside the beautiful Selinda Spillway.
Designed exclusively for families and friends travelling together, The Selinda Suite offers the freedom to experience the Selinda Reserve entirely on your own terms. With your own guide, safari vehicle, chef and host, every day is shaped around the wildlife and your own interests, creating a wonderfully relaxed safari where time is never dictated by anyone else's schedule.
The suite features two spacious en-suite bedrooms connected by a generous central lounge and dining area beneath soaring thatched roofs. Inspired by traditional African craftsmanship, the interiors combine natural timber, woven textures, polished copper and handcrafted furnishings to create a warm, residential atmosphere rather than a conventional safari camp.
Expansive timber decks wrap around the suite, leading to a private plunge pool overlooking the Spillway. Large bathrooms include copper bathtubs, indoor showers and double vanities, while broad verandas provide a peaceful place to relax between safari activities as elephants, antelope and abundant birdlife move through the surrounding landscape.
Dining is entirely personalised, with your own chef preparing meals around the rhythm of each day. Breakfast may follow an early morning drive, lunch can be served back at the suite or enjoyed out in the bush, while evenings conclude with beautifully prepared dinners beneath Botswana's spectacular night skies. Fresh seasonal ingredients, carefully selected wines and attentive yet discreet service make every meal feel effortlessly relaxed.
Your private guide and customised safari vehicle allow complete flexibility from the moment you arrive. Sunrise game drives explore the grasslands, woodland and waterways surrounding the Selinda Spillway, adapting to wildlife movements rather than following fixed routes. There is no need to return for shared mealtimes or scheduled departures, allowing you to spend longer with exceptional sightings whenever the moment deserves it.
The reserve supports thriving populations of elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, African wild dogs, giraffe, zebra and numerous antelope species, while more than 200 recorded bird species make every outing equally rewarding for birdwatchers. Experienced guides bring the landscape to life, interpreting animal behaviour, birdlife and the smaller details that are so often overlooked.
Guided walks offer a slower and more immersive perspective, while boating along the Selinda Spillway provides a completely different view of the surrounding wilderness when water levels permit. Seasonal fishing, scenic helicopter flights and champagne stops can all be incorporated into your itinerary, ensuring no two days ever need to be the same.
Photography is exceptionally well catered for. Your private Land Cruiser is purpose-built for wildlife photography, with raised roofs, fold-down screens and specialist camera supports, while professional Canon camera equipment and high-quality binoculars are available throughout your stay for guests wishing to capture every unforgettable encounter.
The changing seasons continually transform the Selinda Reserve. Rising floodwaters create beautiful channels and lagoons that attract elephants, buffalo and prolific birdlife, while the drier months concentrate wildlife around permanent water, often producing superb predator encounters. Every season reveals a different character, ensuring each safari offers something new.
The Selinda Suite occupies a secluded position beside the Selinda Spillway within Botswana's Selinda Reserve. Surrounded by waterways, woodland and open grasslands, it provides an exceptional setting where complete privacy and outstanding wildlife combine to create one of Africa's finest private safari experiences.
