Our View
Cocobay earns our recommendation for the way its colourful cottages, sweeping bay views and easy all-inclusive rhythm capture Antigua’s romantic side. It suits couples who value privacy and character, particularly those choosing a cottage with its own pool above the sea.
Cocobay Resort spills down a tropical Antiguan hillside in a colourful collection of cottages overlooking the brilliant blue curve of Ffryes Bay.
There is an unmistakable sense of place here. Wooden cottages painted in soft Caribbean colours sit among ten acres of gardens, their verandas turned towards the water, while winding paths connect elevated pools, open-air dining spaces and viewpoints across the coast. The result feels intimate and characterful rather than conventionally hotel-like.
Designed exclusively for adults and offered on an all-inclusive basis, Cocobay lends itself naturally to romantic escapes. Days unfold without ceremony between two white-sand beaches, hammocks, infinity pools and sunset drinks, with the resort’s informal rhythm encouraging guests to set aside schedules and give their attention to the landscape.
Rooms & Suites
The accommodation consists of individual cottages rather than rooms within a larger building. Wood-beamed ceilings, timber floors and private balconies give them a simple island character, while hammocks and outdoor seating turn each veranda into an important part of the living space.
Position and outlook distinguish the collection. Cottages set among the gardens offer a greater sense of enclosure, while Deluxe View Cottages occupy elevated points on the hillside, opening the experience towards wider views of the resort and Caribbean Sea.
Private-pool accommodation adds another dimension to the stay. Deluxe Pool Cottages pair their own plunge pools with broad coastal outlooks, allowing much of the day to be spent outdoors in privacy rather than beside the shared pools.
For a particularly close relationship with the water, Azure Waterfront Pool Suites occupy prized positions facing the sea. Their private pools and generous outdoor areas are shaped around the view, making them especially appealing for honeymoons and longer stays centred on complete relaxation.
Dining
Rafters Restaurant is the social and culinary heart of Cocobay. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, its airy setting looks across the gardens towards the bay, keeping meals closely connected to the landscape throughout the day.
Menus combine Caribbean influences with international dishes, bringing enough variation to suit the resort’s all-inclusive format. The atmosphere remains easy-going, whether guests are arriving for breakfast after an early swim or settling in for dinner as the light changes over Ffryes Bay.
Sheer Rocks provides a notable alternative for lunch or dinner. Set on a rocky headland beside the resort, the restaurant is arranged around private pavilions overlooking the sea, with a more occasion-led mood that suits a leisurely afternoon or a romantic evening.
Experience
Two beaches lie below the resort, placing clear Caribbean water within easy reach of the hillside cottages. Valley Church Beach and Little Ffryes Beach add further stretches of sand nearby, making this part of Antigua particularly rewarding for guests who enjoy dividing their time between different shorelines.
Two outdoor pools occupy elevated positions within the grounds. Their infinity edges draw the gaze towards the horizon, while surrounding terraces provide ample room for a quiet day of swimming, reading and watching sailing boats move across the bay.
Snorkelling, kayaking and Hobie Cat sailing equipment are available for guests who want to spend more time on the water. Walking and hiking offer a change of perspective on the landscape, while golf can be found at Jolly Harbour, approximately ten kilometres from the resort.
Selected evenings bring live music and entertainment to the property, complementing rather than interrupting its relaxed atmosphere. Sunset remains the most dependable event of the day, with the resort’s south-west-facing position giving guests an excellent vantage point from the pools, restaurant and private verandas.
Wellness
Cocobay’s wellness deck and spa make thoughtful use of the hillside setting. Open-air surroundings and views towards the coast give treatments a stronger sense of place, with massage and spa rituals accompanied by the sound and warmth of the Caribbean outdoors.
Yoga and fitness classes provide a gentler way to begin the morning, while personal training and a fitness area support more structured exercise. The emphasis remains in keeping with the rest of the resort: informal, restorative and shaped around time spent outside.
Where
Cocobay overlooks Ffryes Bay on Antigua’s south-west coast, an area known for warm sunsets and a succession of attractive beaches. Valley Church Beach and Little Ffryes Beach are nearby, while Jolly Harbour and its golf course are approximately ten kilometres away.
V.C. Bird International Airport is around 45 minutes from the resort. The hillside position gives Cocobay far-reaching views along the coast, yet the beaches below remain close enough for swimming to become an effortless part of each day.
