Above Mylopotas Beach on Ios, Hideout Suites is an intimate collection of just 12 Cycladic suites, each with its own private pool, veranda and an uninterrupted view across the deep blue of the Aegean.

There is a lovely simplicity to Hideout. Whitewashed walls step down the hillside, the architecture follows the familiar clean geometry of the Cyclades and virtually everything has been arranged around that enormous view. From the moment you wake, Mylopotas and the Aegean are there beyond the terrace, changing from the bright blues of morning to the softer colours of late afternoon.

With only 12 suites, the experience feels wonderfully private. There are no grand public spaces competing for attention and very little reason for there to be. Your own pool and veranda become the place where most of the day naturally unfolds, while one of Ios’ best known beaches waits just down the hill whenever the sea proves too tempting.

Rooms & Suites

Every suite has a private pool and sea view, making even the entry categories feel rather special. Design, Superior and Deluxe Suites pair spacious interiors with outdoor lounge areas where the pool appears to run towards the horizon, creating exactly the sort of indoor and outdoor living that suits a Greek island summer.

The Honeymoon Suite is an obvious choice for couples wanting something particularly private, while the Grand Suite gives the same idea more room to breathe. Interiors remain crisp and contemporary, with white and neutral tones, uncluttered furnishings and wide openings ensuring the terrace and sea remain the real stars.

There is also a two bedroom villa with its own pool and garden view for families or friends wanting to stay together. Some accommodation includes full kitchen facilities, adding a useful degree of independence and making Hideout particularly easy to settle into for more than a few nights.

Dining

Breakfast can be brought to the suite, which is exactly where we would want it. With a private terrace, pool and the Aegean spread out below, mornings lend themselves to being drawn out rather than hurried, particularly when there is nowhere you need to be.

Room service, packed lunches and drinks keep things flexible throughout the day, while suites with kitchen facilities allow for simple meals at home. Mylopotas has plenty of places to eat beside the beach, and Ios Chora adds tavernas, bars and restaurants to the evening, so dining can easily follow wherever the day happens to take you.

Experience

Mylopotas is one of the great pleasures of staying here. The long sweep of sand lies around 400 metres away, close enough to wander down for a morning swim, lunch by the beach or an afternoon on the water before retreating to the privacy of your own pool above.

Snorkelling and diving are available for those who want to spend more time in the Aegean, while car hire opens up the rest of Ios and its quieter beaches, villages and landscapes. Sightseeing can also be arranged, including journeys further into the island towards places such as Homer’s Tomb and the Monastery of Agios Ioannis.

The real luxury, though, is how little structure a day requires. Beach when you want it, Chora when the mood takes you and a private pool waiting whenever staying exactly where you are seems like the better idea.

Wellness

Wellness is kept personal, with massages, spa treatments and wellness packages available alongside fitness facilities. It suits the scale of Hideout, allowing a treatment to become part of an afternoon at your suite rather than requiring you to disappear into a large spa complex.

And with so much private outdoor space, relaxation tends to happen rather naturally anyway. A swim, a shaded lounger and the view across Mylopotas provide a pretty convincing wellness programme of their own.
