Ios Grand Pool Suites

Cut into the hillside above Mylopotas Beach, Ios Grand Pool Suites is an intimate collection of sea facing suites where local stone, expansive terraces and private infinity pools turn the immense blue of the Aegean into the defining feature of the stay.

The architecture belongs unmistakably to Ios. Stone taken from the hillside itself forms much of the structure, while carved arches, timber beams, inward closing shutters and white Cycladic surfaces reference the island’s traditional buildings without attempting to recreate them. The suites descend amphitheatrically through the rock, allowing each level to look beyond the one below towards Mylopotas and the open sea.

That elevated position is what gives the hotel its drama. Outdoor living takes priority, with terraces pushed towards the horizon and pools appearing to merge into the Aegean beyond. Every suite is generously conceived, with a seating area, dining space and kitchenette providing considerably more independence than a conventional hotel room. Natural textures and restrained colours keep the interiors connected to the rocky landscape, while the terraces carry much of the personality of each category.

The Comfort and Panoramic Suites are designed around their outdoor spaces, with private pools bringing the Aegean right to the edge of the terrace. The Panoramic Suite Chill Out Pool offers another interpretation of the same idea, creating a particularly inviting place to spend long stretches of the day outside.

For families or friends travelling together, the Grand Two and Three Bedroom Suites provide substantial shared living space alongside their private pools. The Elite Three Bedroom Suite sits at the top of the collection, adding a Jacuzzi to its pool and creating a wonderfully self contained base for a larger party high above Mylopotas.

Dining

Tomatini brings Greek and Mediterranean cooking to the hillside, with the produce and flavours of the region fitting naturally into a setting so closely connected to the Cyclades. Vegetarian, vegan and dairy free dishes can be accommodated, while the bar and lighter daytime options keep things relaxed between meals.

The suites make private dining especially appealing. Breakfast can arrive at your door, and with a dining area, kitchenette and that extraordinary terrace outside, there is every reason to let meals become part of the private pool experience rather than feeling obliged to head elsewhere.

Experience

Mylopotas Beach waits below the hotel, bringing one of Ios’ best known stretches of coastline within easy reach. The bay is made for days in and around the water, with snorkelling, diving, canoeing and windsurfing available alongside the simpler pleasure of swimming in the clear Aegean.

Cycling, walking tours and local cultural experiences provide a route into the island beyond the beach, while car and bicycle hire make independent exploring straightforward. Chora is close enough for evenings among its whitewashed lanes, bars and restaurants before returning to the hillside and the quiet of your own terrace.

Back at the hotel there are shared outdoor pools and a fitness centre, although the private pools inevitably become the centre of daily life. When the view is this good, there is a strong temptation to leave plans deliberately loose and simply see how long breakfast beside the water can last.

Wellness

Wellness is surprisingly extensive for a retreat of this scale. The spa offers a sauna, steam room and relaxation spaces alongside massages, facials and body treatments, with couples therapies and longer wellness rituals available when an afternoon beside the pool needs a little competition.

The setting provides its own restorative moments too. An early swim before Mylopotas begins to stir or an hour in the pool as the afternoon light moves across the bay feels completely in tune with the hotel’s idea of living outdoors beside the endless blue.
