Balhambra Suites

Right on Fiskardo’s old square and waterfront, Balhambra Suites offers an intimate adults only stay inside a characterful 1920 building, with individually arranged suites gathered around a peaceful courtyard of olive trees, lavender and water.

Its position gives the hotel a very particular charm. Step outside and the harbour is immediately there, lined with boats, cafés and tavernas; step back through the entrance and the mood changes completely, with a sheltered courtyard creating a calm centre to the building.

The architecture carries a subtle colonial influence, with dark timber furniture, traditional detailing and a layout that feels shaped by the original structure rather than imposed upon it. Balconies, upper levels and inward facing rooms create a layered sense of place, with some suites looking towards the harbour and others into the garden and fountain below.

The suites are all individually configured and accommodate two guests, giving the hotel a naturally intimate feel. Each has its own balcony or outdoor area, with outlooks ranging from partial harbour views to the quieter courtyard and gardens.

The Superior Suites and Executive categories bring more space and a stronger sense of separation, while the Executive Loft Suites occupy higher positions within the building and combine partial harbour views with glimpses back towards the courtyard. Suites 101 to 104 are especially appealing for guests who want a closer relationship with the waterfront.

Inside, the look is elegant and unfussy, with dark wood furnishings, comfortable seating areas and kitchenettes that make the suites particularly easy to settle into. The result is accommodation that feels independent without losing the character of a small boutique stay.

Dining

There is a pleasing freedom to the way days unfold here. Each suite has its own kitchenette for breakfast, coffee or simple meals, while Fiskardo’s restaurants and tavernas begin almost as soon as you step outside.

That immediate connection with the harbour means dining becomes part of the village experience itself. Morning coffee can be taken beside the water, lunch might stretch into the afternoon and evenings can be spent moving between waterfront tables before wandering back through the square to the hotel.

Experience

Fiskardo is the real extension of Balhambra. The harbour, shops and cafés are all on the doorstep, while the nearest beach is just a short walk away, making it easy to leave the car behind and experience the village entirely on foot.

Diving, canoeing, fishing, hiking and walking tours add another dimension for guests who want to explore beyond the waterfront, while boat trips open up the surrounding coastline and nearby coves. Returning afterwards to the quiet courtyard gives the stay a lovely rhythm between village life and privacy.

Some of the nicest moments are also the simplest ones: an early walk around the harbour before breakfast, a swim during the day and an evening balcony drink while Fiskardo settles into its softer nighttime atmosphere.
