On 100,000 square metres of gardens beside the Aegean at Psalidi, Grecotel LuxMe Kos is a five star all inclusive resort shaped around vast lagoons, tropical planting, a private beach and an extraordinary choice of rooms, bungalows, suites and villas.

Water gives this resort its identity. Three landscaped outdoor pools spill through the grounds in lagoons, rivers and waterfalls, with palms, lawns and gardens stretching between them until the landscape finally meets the beach. It creates a wonderfully escapist setting, particularly in the evening when the lights of the Turkish coast begin to appear across the water.

The scale is impressive, but it also creates choice. Families can settle around the pools, couples can gravitate towards the beach and quieter gardens, and anyone wanting more privacy can retreat to a bungalow, suite or villa with its own pool. Rooms & Suites

The accommodation is unusually broad, beginning with garden and sea view rooms before moving into bungalows scattered throughout the grounds. Some sit beside the pools, others share a pool directly outside, and first row bungalows bring you much closer to the Aegean, including an especially appealing private pool option.

Families have been given genuine choice rather than simply larger versions of a standard room. There are interconnected rooms, family bungalows, two bedroom accommodation and substantial Family Suites, including versions with a sharing pool or private pool and sea view. The Famous Family Bungalows add another step up, with a private pool available in the highest category.

The villas transform the experience again. One and two bedroom Deluxe Villas lead to the Dream Villas and ultimately the four bedroom Beachfront Villa with Private Pool, giving larger families and groups the space and independence of a villa while retaining everything available across the resort.

Dining

LuxMe is built around the idea that all inclusive dining should be something to look forward to, and food is woven through the day rather than confined to three predictable sittings. The Lagoon forms the main dining hub, while Tavernaki brings Greek cooking into a more traditional setting and Finicia provides a more polished fine dining experience.

Asian flavours, the 1930 Bar Restaurant and further dining spaces broaden the choice, with outdoor terraces allowing meals to spill into the gardens and towards the sea. A pâtisserie and chocolaterie, snack and ice bars, premium drinks and selected wines take care of everything in between, while beach and pool service means even lunch need not interrupt a particularly good sunbed.

It makes the resort especially easy to enjoy over a full week. One evening can be Greek, another more refined, another relaxed beside the water, and there is enough variety during the day that the all inclusive concept feels like freedom rather than a timetable.

Experience

The private beach and remarkable pool landscape provide more than enough for days devoted entirely to swimming and sunshine, but LuxMe Kos has plenty of energy when wanted. The water sports centre offers windsurfing, canoeing and diving, while two tennis courts, cycling, fitness classes and a programme of activities keep things moving on land.

Children have their own pool, kids’ club and dedicated activities, making this a particularly strong resort for families whose idea of a holiday involves everyone having something different to do. The generous grounds help enormously, giving busier areas room to breathe and allowing the day to move naturally between activity and quieter time by the water.

And then there is the view. Kos sits remarkably close to the Turkish coast, and watching boats cross the Aegean towards the mountains of Anatolia gives this corner of the island a sense of geography that is quite unlike anywhere else in Greece.

Wellness

Elixir Spa offers an indoor pool, hammam, sauna, steam room and hot tub alongside massages, facials, body treatments and beauty therapies. Fitness facilities and classes complement the spa, so wellness can be as active or indulgent as the day requires.

It is a welcome retreat from the brightness and activity outside, particularly after a morning of water sports or an afternoon around the lagoon, before heading back towards the gardens for dinner as the evening lights begin to appear across the sea.
