White Rock of Kos

High on the hillside above Kefalos, White Rock of Kos is an adults only five star retreat where every suite faces the Aegean and the island's quieter western coastline stretches away beneath wide terraces, private pools and open sky.

The elevation is what gives White Rock its identity. Whitewashed buildings step gently down the hillside, their clean lines softened by pale stone, timber and Mediterranean planting, while terraces project towards an enormous expanse of blue. Dining

Verano Restaurant takes advantage of the hillside position with Mediterranean and international cooking served against the backdrop of the Aegean. Seasonal ingredients shape the menus, with breakfast beginning the day here before the restaurant settles into a more leisurely rhythm for later meals.

The bar comes into its own towards sunset, when the hotel's elevation really pays dividends. Drinks on the terrace as the colour changes across the sea are one of White Rock's simplest pleasures, and the restrained scale of the hotel keeps evenings relaxed and pleasantly intimate.

Experience

The main outdoor pool occupies another spectacular viewpoint, with a broad sun terrace facing directly towards the sea and the hills around Kefalos. It is an easy place to lose much of the day, particularly when the western Kos sunshine begins to soften towards late afternoon.

Tennis and cycling provide options for more active hours, while the beaches around Kefalos are among the great reasons to stay on this side of the island. The landscape feels more open here, with long stretches of sand, rugged hills and small coastal roads inviting days away from the busier east of Kos.

The spa gives White Rock a surprisingly complete wellness offering for a hotel of this scale. A hammam, sauna, steam room and hot tub accompany massages, facials and body treatments, while a spa lounge provides somewhere cooler and quieter after time in the sun.
