Myconian Imperial

The Imperial has a real sense of scale. Its brilliant white buildings rise from rustic stone walls across the slope, opening onto terraces and viewpoints that draw your eye repeatedly towards Elia Bay. Sea and sky dominate the outlook, while warm timber, flashes of colour and playful contemporary details bring personality to the otherwise crisp Cycladic architecture.

Much of the pleasure comes from having room to spread out. Pools, restaurants, bars and terraces occupy different levels across the resort, so days can unfold in several directions without ever losing that connection to the sea. Interiors are fresh and bright, balancing white surfaces with natural materials and carefully judged contemporary details. The rooms never compete with their setting, which is exactly right when Elia Bay is filling the windows from morning until evening.

Dining

Four dining venues give the Imperial enough variety to keep evenings interesting. Meltemi begins the day with a generous breakfast, while Celebrities takes a more considered approach to Mediterranean cooking and provides the natural choice when dinner deserves to become the main event of the evening.

Nostos Bar Restaurant keeps things relaxed with food and drinks across the day, while Sishu Sushi Bar changes direction with Japanese flavours and sushi. Cocktail and beach bars complete the picture, allowing lunch beside the water to turn into drinks by the pool before dinner without ever needing to leave the resort.

Experience

Three swimming pools and the beach give days at the Imperial an appealing sense of choice. The entertainment deck and seawater pool look straight across the bay, while a separate children’s pool provides its own space for younger guests and the terraces around them make the most of the hotel’s elevated outlook.

Down at sea level, guests have access to a private section of Elia Beach and its famously clear water. Snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, canoeing and fishing can all add something more active to the day, with tennis, cycling, hiking and horse riding extending the possibilities away from the shoreline.

The spa is substantial enough to become part of the holiday rather than somewhere reserved for a single treatment. Massages, body rituals, facials and beauty therapies sit alongside a hot tub and dedicated spa facilities, with couples treatments particularly well suited to the resort’s honeymoon following.

There is also a fitness centre for anyone inclined to counterbalance the long lunches and poolside afternoons. Together with the beach and extensive outdoor facilities, it gives the Imperial the depth of a true resort while retaining the unmistakable character of a Mykonos escape.

Where

Elia provides a beautiful base on the quieter side of southern Mykonos, while the Imperial’s regular shared shuttle makes evenings in Mykonos Town easy to fold into the stay. That freedom works particularly well here, letting you dip into the boutiques, restaurants and nightlife of Chora before returning to the open space, sea air and sweeping views of the hillside above Elia.
