Riviera presents a very different face of Mykonos. Built amphitheatrically into the hillside opposite the marina, its terraces rise one above another so that the sea remains the defining feature wherever you happen to be. Boats move constantly across the water below, islands appear on the horizon and the changing light gives the view a life of its own throughout the day.

The architecture takes its cues from the maritime setting without becoming themed. Crisp white walls are paired with dark detailing, natural textures and subtle nautical references, while the stepped arrangement creates a series of terraces and courtyards rather than one large resort landscape. With only 44 rooms and suites, the atmosphere remains intimate despite the impressive range of facilities tucked into the hillside.

Rooms & Suites

Accommodation ranges from Riviera and Panoramic Retreat Rooms to an unusually imaginative collection of suites, maisonettes and villas. Private terraces are integral to the design, making the marina, Aegean and sunset part of the room itself, while several categories add outdoor hot tubs for lingering over the view well into the evening.

Private pools become a major feature higher through the collection. Elixir, Marina, Anchor, Laveer and Galaxy categories offer their own water alongside generous living space, while the Signature Spa Pool Suites introduce a more indulgent wellness element. There is even an Eccentric Fitness Pool Suite for guests who prefer their gym considerably closer to home.

Families and groups have some exceptional choices. Two and three bedroom pool maisonettes provide plenty of room to spread out, the Cosmopolitan Maisonette extends to four bedrooms and the Mykonos Riviera Villa brings eight bedrooms together for a substantial private stay with the services of the hotel close at hand.

Dining

Lafs takes care of evenings with contemporary Mediterranean cooking and an elegant setting facing the Aegean. Dinner naturally follows the rhythm of the sunset here, with the marina beginning to sparkle below as the sky changes colour and the lights of Mykonos appear across the hillside.

The Pool Club Restaurant has an easier daytime personality, beginning with breakfast before moving into relaxed lunches beside the water. The pool bar keeps the same terrace alive into the afternoon and evening, making this one of those hotels where drinks before dinner can easily begin rather earlier than intended.

Experience

The 200 square metre infinity pool is Riviera’s great centrepiece, stretching along the terrace above Tourlos with the harbour and open Aegean beyond. Fibre optic lighting transforms it after dark, but during the day it is the broad sea view that dominates, particularly when the cruise ships and sailing boats begin moving through the channel below.

The marina position also makes Riviera a natural starting point for time on the water. The concierge can arrange sailing, island trips and days exploring the Mykonian coastline, while Agios Stefanos provides a beautiful stretch of sand when a beach day calls. Mykonos Town is close enough to become part of the daily rhythm, whether for an afternoon wander or a night out in Chora.

Wellness

At around 500 square metres, the spa is impressively substantial for a hotel of this size. An indoor pool, hammam, sauna and steam room accompany a wide treatment menu covering massage, facials, body therapies and beauty rituals, creating a genuine destination within the hotel rather than simply somewhere to book the occasional treatment.

Yoga, fitness classes, personal training and a dedicated fitness centre complete the wellness programme. The contrast with the bright, open pool terrace works beautifully, particularly later in the afternoon when a spell in the hammam or indoor pool provides the perfect reset before sunset and dinner.

Where

Tourlos gives Riviera an excellent relationship with both the sea and Mykonos Town. The harbour brings constant movement and character to the view, Agios Stefanos is nearby for swimming and Chora is easily reached whenever you want its restaurants, boutiques and nightlife, before returning to a hotel where the Aegean and marina once again take centre stage.
