Nomad Mykonos

Above Kalo Livadi on the quieter eastern side of Mykonos, Nomad Mykonos is a 14 suite member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World shaped around private pools, sun drenched terraces and a deliberately slower interpretation of island life.

Nomad takes its cues from the older, earthier Mykonos that existed long before beach clubs and superyachts became part of the landscape. Rough stone, lime washed walls, timber, woven textures and sculptural pieces give it an organic quality, with architecture that seems to emerge from the rocky terrain rather than sit on top of it. The result feels wonderfully tactile and distinctly Mykonian.

With only 14 suites, privacy comes naturally. There is space to gather around the main pool and Kukulu, but much of the pleasure lies behind your own door, where terraces, courtyards, pools and hot tubs create private places to disappear for hours. It gives Nomad a wonderfully unhurried character, particularly suited to couples who see Mykonos as somewhere to retreat as well as somewhere to go out.

Rooms & Suites

Every suite has been conceived around outdoor living, and almost the entire collection comes with a private pool. Cave and Hideout Suites feel particularly cocooning, while Nomad Suites open onto private yards and pools with selected categories adding views towards the Aegean.

The Honeymoon Suite exchanges the pool for a private outdoor hot tub facing the sea, while the two bedroom suites provide considerably more space for friends travelling together. At the top, the Grand Nomad combines two bedrooms with both a private pool and hot tub, creating an impressive private retreat with the sea stretching away beyond the terrace.

Dining

Kukulu Bar Restaurant is the heart of Nomad and suits the hotel perfectly. Greek and Mediterranean cooking draws on seasonal ingredients and the island's culinary traditions, served in an open, relaxed setting where breakfast can linger and lunch has every chance of occupying rather more of the afternoon than originally intended.

As evening arrives, Kukulu slips naturally into dinner and drinks beneath the Mykonian sky. There is no need for a collection of different venues here, just good food, wine and cocktails in a setting that feels completely connected to the rest of the hotel.

Experience

The main swimming pool provides a beautiful communal alternative to the private pools, surrounded by sun terraces and the same earthy architecture that runs through the suites. Kalo Livadi Beach is nearby, bringing a long sweep of sand and clear Aegean water within easy reach whenever a proper beach day calls.

The concierge can open up the rest of Mykonos through boat trips, walking and cycling tours, horse riding, diving, snorkelling and windsurfing. Chora is close enough for dinner and a late night among its famous lanes, while Nomad's eastern setting makes returning afterwards feel like slipping back into another side of the island entirely.

Wellness

Wellness is taken seriously but kept personal. Yoga and fitness classes, private training and a well equipped fitness centre sit alongside an extensive programme of massages, body treatments, facials and beauty therapies, with couples treatments particularly well suited to the intimate nature of the hotel.

Many experiences can be folded into the privacy of the stay rather than requiring a formal spa day. That approach feels entirely right at Nomad, where a morning yoga session, massage and several uninterrupted hours beside your own pool can become the day's itinerary without ever feeling that anything has been missed.

Where

Kalo Livadi places Nomad away from the busiest western side of Mykonos and within easy reach of several of the island's eastern and southern beaches. Mykonos Town is around ten kilometres away, giving you all the restaurants, bars and energy of Chora when you want them before returning to the space and privacy that make Nomad such an appealing counterpoint.
