Mythic Paros

On a hillside above Agia Irini, Mythic Paros is a five star adults only retreat where 33 rooms and suites, warm Cycladic styling and a broad infinity pool look west across the Aegean towards some spectacular Parian sunsets.

Mythic Paros has a distinctly bohemian character, but one rooted firmly in the island around it. Whitewashed walls and traditional stonework sit among Mediterranean gardens, while timber, woven textures and earthy natural materials soften the familiar Cycladic palette. The result feels relaxed and sun warmed, with plenty of character without distracting from the landscape.

The elevated position is a large part of its appeal. Sea and sky dominate the horizon, particularly towards evening when the western outlook comes into its own, and the hotel has been arranged to make that panorama part of almost everything you do. The 33 rooms and suites range from stylish sea view doubles to some wonderfully indulgent private pool accommodation. Every category has a balcony or terrace, while Junior, Supreme and Cave Senior Suites provide increasingly generous space for couples wanting to linger a little longer in their room.

The Cave collection adds another dimension, using softly curved interiors and sheltered spaces inspired by traditional island architecture. Several categories introduce outdoor hot tubs, while the Signature Suite and Cave Suite with Private Pool provide the pleasure of swimming in complete privacy before settling back onto the terrace for the sunset.

Dining

KIMA Restaurant occupies one of the hotel’s loveliest positions, with tables facing the sea and a menu built around Greek and Mediterranean flavours. Local ingredients keep the cooking connected to Paros, while the relaxed surroundings make it somewhere to settle in rather than simply stop for a meal.

Breakfast is particularly enjoyable with the morning stretching out ahead, but it is dinner that makes full use of Mythic’s west facing position. The pool bar keeps afternoons informal with drinks and lighter bites, then becomes a natural place for a cocktail as the sky begins changing colour over the Aegean.

Experience

The infinity pool is the heart of Mythic Paros, extending towards the horizon with gardens and sun terraces providing plenty of room around it. There is an easy rhythm to spending the day here, moving between a lounger, the water and a long lunch without ever losing sight of the sea.

Paros offers plenty of reasons to venture out too. Cycling and walking can be arranged alongside horse riding, diving, snorkelling and sailing activities, while cooking classes and experiences centred on local culture provide a gentler introduction to the island. Agia Irini also places Parikia within easy reach when an evening in town appeals.

Wellness

Wellness is given genuine space within the experience. The spa offers a broad choice of massages and treatments for individuals and couples, complemented by a hot tub and dedicated relaxation facilities, while yoga sessions make particularly good use of the hotel’s peaceful hillside surroundings.

A fully equipped fitness centre provides another option, although mornings here lend themselves equally well to something slower. An early yoga session followed by breakfast and a few hours beside the infinity pool feels perfectly in tune with Mythic’s easygoing character.

Where

Agia Irini sits on the western side of Paros, placing Mythic between the island’s interior and the coast with Parikia around five kilometres away. A car gives you the freedom to discover the beaches, villages and restaurants scattered across the island, before returning to the hillside in time for the sunset that makes this particular corner of Paros so rewarding.
