Lindos Blu

Carved into the hillside above Vlicha Bay, Lindos Blu Luxury Hotel & Suites is an adults only member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World where terraces cascade towards a private beach and almost every turn brings the Aegean sweeping back into view.

The architecture makes wonderful use of the steep landscape. Rather than sitting above the bay as a single building, Lindos Blu descends towards it in a series of terraces, pools, gardens and walkways, creating the feeling of gradually moving closer to the sea as you make your way through the hotel.

Water, pale stone and warm timber soften the contemporary interiors, while the open spaces are designed around the extraordinary panorama of Vlicha Bay. There is a lovely serenity to it all, particularly from the upper terraces where the hillside drops away and the Aegean seems to fill the horizon.

Rooms & Suites

Rooms, suites, maisonettes and villas are spread across the hillside, and the view is very much part of the accommodation. Even the Double Rooms open towards the sea, while Junior Suites provide more generous interiors and terraces for lingering over the panorama.

Several categories take the relationship with the water further. Double Rooms and Junior Suites with sharing pools allow you to step straight from your terrace into the water, while Deluxe Rooms pair their sea views with an outdoor Jacuzzi.

The Private Pool Villa and Private Pool Maisonette are the real indulgence, each combining panoramic sea views with a pool of its own. They are made for those mornings when breakfast on the terrace becomes another swim and any plans to leave the hotel begin to look increasingly unnecessary.

Dining

Five Senses gives dinner a real sense of occasion. Greek ingredients and culinary traditions are taken in a more sophisticated direction, with the restaurant positioned to make the most of the Aegean as daylight fades and the stars begin to appear above the bay.

Smeraldo is the more relaxed companion, beginning with an excellent breakfast and continuing through lunch into Mediterranean dinners. Fresh juices, coffee and dishes cooked to order make mornings particularly enjoyable, while Greek meze, fish and lighter dishes suit long lunches when returning to the pool feels more important than watching the clock.

Luna Rossa is the place for cocktails once evening arrives, while Allegro keeps drinks and light lunches close to the infinity pool during the day. Higher on the hillside, the Il Sogno Sun Terrace adds Jacuzzis, loungers and another spectacular perspective across Vlicha Bay.

Experience

There are two outdoor pools, each occupying a different level of the hillside and each offering its own angle across the sea. Moving between them is part of the pleasure, particularly when the infinity edge seems to disappear directly into the blue of the bay below.

Continue downhill and the terraces eventually reach the hotel’s private beach, where loungers, umbrellas and service make it easy to spend the afternoon beside the Aegean. The transition from room to pool to beach is beautifully handled and gives the whole hotel a natural connection to the water.

Tennis and live music add a little more to the day, but Lindos Blu is equally good at doing very little. A sunbed, a swim and something cold brought to you beside the water can occupy a surprising amount of time here.

Wellness

The Elixir Spa draws on natural ingredients and Greek inspired rituals, with treatments ranging from massage and body therapies to facials and beauty treatments. An indoor heated pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and hammam create a peaceful circuit away from the sunshine.

The gym has panoramic views across Vlicha Bay, an unusually persuasive incentive for a holiday workout, with Pilates and yoga equipment alongside cardio and strength facilities. Afterwards, the indoor pool and spa make a very agreeable reward.

Where

Lindos Blu sits above Vlicha Bay just outside Lindos, placing one of Rhodes’ most beautiful historic villages within easy reach. Days can therefore move effortlessly between the privacy of the hotel and an evening beneath the Acropolis in Lindos, before returning to the hillside and those magnificent Aegean views.
