Canaves Epitome

Above Ammoudi Bay on the quieter northern edge of Oia, Canaves Oia Epitome brings a rare sense of space to Santorini, with 53 pool suites and villas arranged around open sea views, private terraces and some of the island’s most memorable sunsets.

Epitome feels quite different from the tightly layered hotels that define central Oia. Dining

Omnia sets the tone each morning with an à la carte breakfast that can be enjoyed overlooking the sea or served privately in the suite. The pace is relaxed, and the emphasis is firmly on quality and setting rather than the formality of a large hotel breakfast room.

Elements takes over as the day moves towards evening, combining Mediterranean cooking with one of Epitome’s strongest assets: its west facing position. Dinner here unfolds against the changing colours of the sky, with a carefully chosen wine list and a terrace that makes lingering almost inevitable.

The pool bar sits naturally between the two, keeping drinks, light bites and the main terrace connected throughout the day. It gives the shared spaces a pleasing sense of continuity from breakfast through to sunset.

Experience

The main infinity style pool is the focal point of the communal areas, lined with loungers and cabanas and framed by uninterrupted sea views. Even so, the amount of private outdoor space attached to the suites means the hotel never relies on one central pool to define the day.

Katharos Beach is within walking distance, while the hotel can arrange hiking, cycling, diving, snorkelling, horse riding and excursions around the island. Daily yoga sessions offer a gentler way to begin the morning, and the complimentary shuttle makes it easy to move between the hotel, Oia and Ammoudi without having to plan around transport.

One of the real pleasures here is the freedom to alternate between complete privacy and the energy of Santorini. A morning by your own pool, lunch in Oia, a swim at Katharos and sunset back at Epitome can all fit easily into the same day.

Wellness

The spa offers massages, facials, body treatments and beauty therapies, supported by a fitness centre, yoga and personal training. The approach feels well suited to Epitome, giving wellness a strong presence while allowing the private pools, terraces and open setting to do much of the restorative work naturally.

That balance carries through the whole stay. There is enough structure for guests who want treatments, fitness and activities, but just as much pleasure in doing very little beyond enjoying the view from a private terrace.
