Our View

Few resorts in the Maldives feel as effortlessly complete as Kuda Huraa; we love the village atmosphere, the private spa island and the way Four Seasons makes every stay feel genuinely personal from the moment you arrive.

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa, a Forbes Five Star resort in the North Malé Atoll, brings together the character of a traditional island village with the service, consistency and sense of occasion that have made it one of the Maldives' most respected resorts.

Kuda Huraa feels different from many newer Maldivian resorts. Rather than a long jetty lined with villas, the island unfolds like a small village, with winding pathways linking gardens, beaches, restaurants and public spaces beneath a canopy of palms and tropical flowers. The scale is intimate, the atmosphere relaxed and the connection to local Maldivian influences runs through the entire experience. It is a resort that has matured gracefully over the years, remaining relevant not through reinvention but through getting the fundamentals right; warm service, beautiful surroundings and a setting that feels genuine rather than manufactured.

The lagoon wraps gently around the island, creating calm swimming areas and sheltered stretches of beach, while the layout ensures there is always a sense of space despite the resort's popularity. Families, couples and returning guests coexist comfortably, helped by thoughtful planning and a team that understands how to make a large operation feel personal.

Staying

Accommodation ranges from Beach Villas hidden amongst tropical gardens to expansive Water Villas extending across the lagoon. The emphasis throughout is on generous outdoor living, with large terraces, private pools in many categories and direct access either to the beach or the sea. Interiors draw on local craftsmanship and natural materials, creating spaces that feel comfortable and inviting rather than overly formal.

The premium accommodation is particularly impressive. Beach Pavilions with Pool offer substantial indoor and outdoor living space for families, while the Water Suites and multi bedroom residences provide some of the most spacious accommodation in the atoll. The larger villas feel less like hotel rooms and more like private island homes, with room to spend entire days without feeling confined.

Dining is spread across four restaurants and a collection of bars and private dining venues. Café Huraa serves international cuisine throughout the day overlooking the water, while Baraabaru has earned a reputation as one of the Maldives' finest Indian restaurants, with a menu that goes far beyond the standard resort offering. Reef Club brings Mediterranean influences to a beachfront setting and Kandu Grill focuses on freshly landed seafood and premium meats cooked over charcoal.

Beyond the restaurants themselves, dining is woven into the wider resort experience. Private sandbank dinners, overwater gazebos, beach barbecues and bespoke villa dining allow guests to experience the island in different ways throughout their stay. The quality of the food is matched by the quality of the settings, something Kuda Huraa has long done particularly well.

Experience

Life here naturally revolves around the sea. The surrounding reefs provide excellent snorkelling and diving, while nearby surf breaks have made Kuda Huraa one of the Maldives' most established surfing resorts. Dolphin watching excursions, shark safaris, fishing trips and marine discovery experiences add further variety for guests wanting to spend time beyond the lagoon.

Back on the island there are tennis courts, fitness facilities, watersports, children's programmes and several swimming pools. Days can be as active or as relaxed as guests choose, whether that means chasing waves at sunrise, spending an afternoon on the beach or settling into a slower rhythm beside the water with little agenda beyond enjoying the surroundings.

Wellness

The Island Spa remains one of the defining features of the resort. Reached by traditional dhoni boat, the spa occupies its own private island entirely separate from the main resort. Treatment pavilions sit above the water, while relaxation areas, steam facilities, wellness programmes and a fully equipped gym create a destination in its own right rather than simply another resort spa.

The short crossing to the spa becomes part of the experience itself, creating a sense of separation from the rest of the island and allowing guests to fully switch off for a few hours. Few wellness facilities in the Maldives feel quite as distinctive.

Where

Located in the North Malé Atoll, Kuda Huraa is reached by a speedboat transfer of around 25 minutes from Velana International Airport. Its proximity to Malé makes arrival straightforward while still delivering the feeling of being fully immersed in an island escape.
