We particularly like how Kagi gives equal importance to wellbeing and island life, creating a resort that feels peaceful, thoughtful and wonderfully easy to settle into.
Kagi Maldives Resort & Spa in the North Malé Atoll places wellness at the centre of the island experience, combining just 50 private pool villas with one of the most comprehensive spa focused concepts in the Maldives.
Unlike many Maldivian resorts where wellness sits quietly alongside the main offering, Kagi has been planned around it. At the heart of the island stands a dedicated 1,500 square metre wellness hub beneath its distinctive open air teardrop shaped roof, with pathways leading outward to beaches, villas, restaurants and the surrounding lagoon. The result is a resort that feels calm and deliberately uncluttered, where space is given equal importance to facilities.
The island itself is relatively compact, allowing guests to move easily between different areas while still enjoying a strong sense of privacy. Combined with the resort's modest villa count, the atmosphere remains peaceful throughout the day, whether relaxing by the beach, exploring the reef or spending time within the spa complex.
Accommodation is intentionally simple in structure, with just three villa categories: Beach Pool Villas, Lagoon Pool Villas and Ocean Pool Villas. Every villa includes a private pool, expansive outdoor living space and a large indoor outdoor bathroom that reinforces the connection between villa and natural surroundings.
Beach Pool Villas provide direct access to the sand and are positioned amongst tropical vegetation, while Lagoon Pool Villas occupy the quieter edge of the island where the lagoon is at its widest. Ocean Pool Villas extend over the water, offering uninterrupted views across the atoll and direct access to the sea below. Across all categories, the emphasis is on privacy, generous outdoor space and a relaxed indoor outdoor lifestyle.
Four restaurants and three bars provide a surprisingly varied dining programme for a resort of this size. Noo Faru is the island's main restaurant, serving international cuisine and live cooking stations throughout the day, while Ke Un focuses on Japanese flavours in a more intimate setting.
Spa Corner brings wellness inspired menus into the dining experience, reflecting the resort's broader philosophy, while NONNA introduces Italian influences and more relaxed dining. The bars and wine cellar create additional spaces for sunset drinks and evening gatherings, ensuring guests can move between different settings throughout their stay.
The island's 360 degree house reef is one of its defining attractions and allows snorkelling directly from many parts of the shoreline. A dive centre provides access to nearby reefs and channels, while kayaking, paddleboarding and other non motorised watersports allow guests to explore the lagoon at a slower pace.
Back on land, there is an outdoor swimming pool, fitness facilities, yoga sessions, table tennis and a programme of cultural and culinary activities. The overall pace is noticeably quieter than many larger Maldivian resorts, making Kagi particularly appealing to couples and travellers looking for a more restorative island stay.
The Kagi Spa and Wellness Hub is unquestionably the centrepiece of the resort. Beyond treatment rooms, it incorporates dedicated spaces for meditation, yoga, fitness and wellness consultations, creating a more holistic approach than the traditional resort spa model. The striking architecture of the central pavilion has become one of the resort's defining features, while treatment programmes focus on both physical wellbeing and relaxation.
A modern gym, yoga classes and wellness activities complement the spa experience, allowing guests to shape their stay around either active wellbeing or complete relaxation.
Located in the North Malé Atoll, Kagi Maldives Resort & Spa is reached by a 15 minute seaplane transfer or approximately one hour by speedboat from Velana International Airport. Its location offers easy access while retaining the feeling of a secluded island retreat once guests arrive.
