Komandoo has a warmth and ease that keeps people coming back, and we think few adults only islands in the Maldives feel quite as genuinely relaxed.
Komandoo Island Resort & Spa is an adults only retreat in the Lhaviyani Atoll where a small island setting, a strong house reef and an unhurried atmosphere make it one of the Maldives' most enduring choices for couples.
Occupying the entire island of Komandoo, this is a resort that knows exactly what it wants to be. At just 500 metres long, everything feels close at hand, from the beaches and lagoon to the restaurants and spa, yet the island never feels crowded. Mature tropical greenery runs through the centre of the island, opening onto wide stretches of sand and calm turquoise water, while the absence of families creates a noticeably relaxed pace from morning through to evening.
There is a simplicity to Komandoo that has helped it build a loyal following over the years. Rather than focusing on endless facilities or headline grabbing attractions, it delivers the classic Maldives experience exceptionally well: a beautiful island, excellent snorkelling, attentive service and plenty of space to switch off completely.
The resort's 65 villas are divided between beach and overwater locations, each positioned to make the most of the island's natural surroundings. Beach Villas sit just a few steps from the sand, while Jacuzzi Beach Villas add larger outdoor living areas and private jetted tubs.
Over the lagoon, Jacuzzi Water Villas and Ocean Villas provide direct access to the sea and uninterrupted views across the atoll. The Premium Beach Villas with Jetted Tub offer some of the most sought after accommodation on the island, combining generous indoor space with private outdoor areas designed for long, relaxed days by the beach.
Dining centres around two restaurants and two bars. Falhu serves international cuisine throughout the day and remains the social heart of the island, while Aqua provides a more intimate overwater setting with an à la carte menu and uninterrupted views across the lagoon.
Kandu Bar sits beside the infinity pool and is the natural gathering point for sunset drinks, while Thundi Bar offers a quieter beachfront alternative. Guests can also access the celebrated 5.8 Undersea Restaurant at nearby Hurawalhi for a memorable dining experience beneath the ocean surface.
The lagoon and house reef shape much of daily life at Komandoo. Snorkelling can be enjoyed directly from the beach, while the resident Prodivers team provides access to more than 50 dive sites across the Lhaviyani Atoll. Manta ray excursions, fishing trips, sunset cruises and private beach experiences offer opportunities to explore beyond the island itself.
Back on shore, guests can relax beside the infinity pool, enjoy non motorised watersports including kayaking and paddleboarding, or simply spend the day moving between beach, lagoon and bar. The adults only environment gives the entire resort a calm, romantic character that suits couples particularly well.
Duniye Spa provides a peaceful setting for wellness and relaxation, drawing on Thai, Indian and Balinese influences across its treatment menu. Alongside massage and body therapies, guests have access to a steam room, wellness facilities and a fitness centre, allowing active pursuits and relaxation to sit comfortably alongside one another.
The spa's quiet atmosphere and beachfront setting make it a natural extension of the island's slower pace, particularly after a day spent on the water.
Located in the Lhaviyani Atoll, Komandoo is reached by a scenic seaplane transfer of approximately 40 minutes from Velana International Airport. Its position places guests within easy reach of some of the Maldives' most respected diving waters while retaining the privacy of a single resort island.
